Gelato is Italian ice cream created by using the European technique of slowly churning whole milk with fresh, natural ingredients.
Differences between gelato and ice cream
1. Gelato has on average (50%-60%) less fat than ice cream. Gelato served at Bonjour Texas! does not contain high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated fats or artificial flavors.
2. Gelato is churned at a much slower rate than ice cream. This incorporates less air into the gelato, leaving the gelato denser. This results in a high quality product, with a rich and creamy texture.
3. Ice cream is typically served frozen, whereas gelato is typically stored and served at a slightly warmer temperature. This ensures a smoother and silkier texture.
4. Gelato is made in small batches, by hand, using all natural ingredients.
The one thing ice cream and gelato do have in common: you won’t be able to resist just one more scoop!
